Between 2019 - 2020, the exports of Poultry have grown fastest in the UK ($2.65M), Spain ($10.4M), Belgium ($10M), Pakistan ($3.49M, and Uzbekistan ($3.26M). The top importers of poultry are Iraq, Cambodia, Afghanistan, Slovakia and Portugal.

  1. In most countries, poultry production is relegated to domestic consumption, but international trade is rising.
  2. The leading importers of poultry meat are developing countries where cheap, low-quality cuts such as wings, lower legs, necks and giblets sold individually make chicken more accessible to the average consumer.
  3. Consumers in developed countries tend to buy chicken breast and thigh meat and some drumsticks.
  4. Poultry meat products are exported frozen.

Underdeveloped countries are increasingly dependent on poultry meat imports. Their imports increased to around 33 percent in 2019 and continue to show steady growth.
